Do tub fillers compatible with the FS500V valve have a temperature limiting ring?

Tub fillers compatible with the FS500V floor-mounted tub filler valve are engineered and certified for use in the U.S. market without a temperature limiting ring. These products meet all applicable requirements for performance and safety as defined by current U.S. plumbing standards.

Temperature Limiting Options

While these tub fillers do not include built-in temperature limiting rings, local jurisdictions may require additional temperature control to meet specific plumbing codes or enhance safety.

In such cases, a thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) should be installed upstream of the tub filler to regulate and limit the maximum hot water temperature. A common solution is a 3/8" thermostatic mixing valve, such as those offered by PROFLO and other reputable manufacturers.

This valve must be installed before the tub filler on the hot supply line. It blends hot and cold water to deliver a safe, tempered output and is typically installed below the deck or within the wall, depending on the plumbing configuration.

Please refer to the diagram below for a standard installation layout of a single-handle faucet with hot and cold supply lines:

Note: This image illustrates a standard connection layout. Thermostatic mixing valves should be installed prior to these connections if required by code.

Summary

Tub fillers compatible with the FS500V valve do not include a temperature limiting ring.

These fixtures are approved and safe for use in the U.S. as designed.

If additional temperature control is required, a third-party thermostatic mixing valve must be installed upstream of the tub filler.

Always consult local plumbing codes and a licensed plumber to ensure proper compliance and installation.
