F980V – 1/2" NPT Valve
Standard threaded connection using 1/2" NPT (National Pipe Thread), compatible with typical threaded plumbing fittings.
F980VPEX – PEX-A Valve
Designed with integrated PEX-A inlets for direct connection to PEX-A tubing using cold-expansion fittings (ASTM F1960).
What is PEX-A?
PEX-A is a type of cross-linked polyethylene tubing, which allows for the highest degree of crosslinking, resulting in maximum flexibility, shape memory, and resistance to cracking from freezing.
PEX-A vs. PEX-B: Key Differences
Both PEX-A and PEX-B are types of plastic piping, but:
- PEX-A is more flexible, making it easier to install—especially in tight spots.
- It’s better at handling freezing temperatures, because it can expand and return to shape without cracking.
- If it gets kinked, you can fix it with a heat gun, instead of cutting it out.
- It connects with a special expanding ring system that creates a super-tight, leak-resistant fit.
